Elimination takes place during the first term.  This is an opportunity for learners to develop their communication skills.  Competitions are first held on an internal basis followed by an external event.  Practise commences in the second term.

This is a culture week which is presented annually.  Any learner can participate in different sections.  This gives learners an opportunity to participate on his/her level in any section.  They can choose between sections such as, song/singing, drama, art, craft, dance, art of writing, instrumental and scrapbooking.  New items are added annually as learner interests changes.  The competition grows annually and we have already received 300 enrolments for this year.  Learners submit an enrolment form for participation.  Enrolment fees are charged to cover the cost of certificates.  The winners then participate in the Lig-die-Emmer Festival.

This festival is the highlight of our cultural calendar at Uitsig High School.

The top learners from the RissiPit-Eisteddfod participate at a prestige event for trophies and cash prizes.

The following three events take place every year:

  • Student evening
  • Gala event
  • Verse by Candle Light - Kers en Vers aand

The non-musical part of the Lig-die-Emmer/A Bucket-full of Talents takes place during the last part of the third term where dramatic poetry, poems, short stories and others are read to the audience.

The choir is growing from strength to strength.  Mrs Lorraine Duvenage stands at the helm of this prestigious group.  The members practise on a Monday from 14:45 - 16:45. Ms Marcha Geyer is the Accompanist and Mr Maricus Le Grange the Conductor & Choir Master.  The Girls Choir participated in the final Clash of the Choirs at the Allegretto Eisteddfod in 2019.  They won with the highest score ever achieved at a choir gala event - 89,2%.

**At Uitsig we also strive to inform all learners of current cultural activities that take place for them to participate in according to their own talents and abilities.

A Mr & Miss Uitsig Talent show is presented once a year and the winners are crowned during a glamorous gala event.  We also select a Mr & Miss Personality and Mr & Miss Photogenic.
